EXCITING NEW FOOD & BEVERAGE STRUCTURE AT MHYC FROM 30 JUNE 2009
Following an extensive Expressions of Interest process over the last 6 months, the Board is in the final stages of contract negotiations with the preferred tenderer for all Food & Beverage and Function (F&B) operations, All Leisure Hospitality (ALH).
Shores decided not to make a submission to the EOI, and so their involvement at MHYC will lapse on 29 June when their current lease expires.
Some key elements of our proposed partnership with ALH are:
- MHYC will have full control over all F& B across the entire site, working in close partnership with ALH, who will manage the F & B for us.
- ALH has committed to major capital expenditure in both the downstairs (Sand Bar) and upstairs areas. Some of this will require DA approval from Mosman Council so physical changes may not be obvious until later in the year, but once we have agreed plans with our caterer they will be put on display at the club.
- Our intention is to expand the Sand Bar. It will be transformed into a contemporary bistro with an attractive menu for both members and the general public, replacing over time the existing upstairs Bistro.
- The existing Shores space will continue primarily as a Functions venue.
- We expect to see increased Function business in the Main Bar area, but members "exclusive times" will be preserved so that on Wednesday, Thursday twilight and Saturday, members will have full access to this bar, the upstairs balcony and the soon-to-be (expanded) Sand Bar.
- MHYC will agree all menus and pricings with ALH and our intention is to extend the current member discount to include food as well as beverages.
- The range of food will be expanded to suit a broader range of member tastes, and special “events” will be created with ALH to give members the opportunity to make MHYC a place to dine and socialise as well as a sailing venue.
There may be some temporary reductions in member food services during the transition and construction phases but we will actively work with our new caterer to minimise these.
As a consequence of the planned expansion of the Sand Bar our long-term tenants Sydney Yachting Centre will be relocating to another space within MHYC and plans are also under consideration to expand the range of yachting services available on site.
Further announcements will be made closer to the effective date of the new F & B arrangements, but in the meantime members should direct any questions to Eric Wegman.
